Facial hair transplant Sydney
At The Crown Clinic, we are able to restore eyebrows and other patchy facial hair such as beards, sideburns and moustaches.
Eyebrow and facial hair transplantation is the same process used for hair transplantation to the scalp, and can provide successful results to restore eyebrows, camouflage scars or fill out patchy eyebrows or beards. Eyebrow and facial hair loss can occur for several reasons, and is most commonly associated with:
- Excessive plucking;
- Scarring (eg. from an accident);
- Trichotillomania (an obsessive compulsive disorder of plucking the eyebrows);
- Medical or surgical treatments.
Eyebrow and facial hair transplantation is a very successful day procedure performed in our surgical rooms under a local anaesthetic. Our surgeon has extensive experience in this specialist procedure using micro-grafting techniques.
For this procedure, a very small strip of hair-bearing skin is removed from a donor area on the scalp. Individual grafts are created from this strip. Individual incisions are then made where the grafts are meticulously placed at the correct angle. This provides a very natural appearance.
The newly transplanted hair will heal over the following 10 to 12 days and will start to grow in their new position in approximately 3 to 4 months. For eyebrows, occasional trimming is required, and in some cases hair may need to be trained with gel.
