The sudden onset of enlarged breast tissue, which is usually benign or noncancerous, is often linked to hormonal changes, however, in some cases the cause may not be clear.
Man boobs are often caused when the two hormones, testosterone and estrogen, are out of balance. Hormonal changes happen during puberty and as men age. Sometimes during these changes, the body makes less testosterone and more estrogen, resulting in enlarged breast tissue.
