Noticing hair loss? It’s not too late.

It used to be the common perception that if we wore a hat all the time, it would eventually contribute to hair loss. Unfortunately, this isn’t true. Hair loss can occur in both men and women but in different forms.

Hair Loss Treatments for Men

The majority (94%) of hair loss for men is usually caused by either Androgenic alopecia or MPB (Male Pattern Baldness). Although these causes are quite frequent, other causes can include illness, extreme stress and even reactions to certain medications.

Although there are a wide variety of treatments available for hair loss, it is important to note that some treatments may not be suitable for your current condition.

Understanding stages of hair loss

Thanks to the development of a measurement scale created by James Hamilton and O’Tar Norwood back in the early 50s-70s, there is a way to determine which treatment is best suited to your current stage of hair loss. This is called the Hamilton-Norwood Scale.

Some of the more popular hair loss treatments on offer for men include:

Hair Loss Treatments for Women

Just like men, women can also be affected by hair loss. According to Marieclaire.com.au (2019), “At least 1 in 3 women will suffer from hair loss or reduced hair volume at some point in their life.”

The majority of hair loss occurs due to age, but it can also happen as a result of:

  • Improper diet
  • Glucose intolerance
  • Stress
  • Auto-immune disease

Understanding hair loss in women

Similar to hair loss in men, it can often be difficult to work out how serious the condition is and whether any treatments can prevent it from getting worse or if hair can be regrown. Thanks to a three-stage scale called The Ludwig Scale there is a way to break down hair loss on women:

  • Grade 1 – Mild
  • Grade 2 – Moderate
  • Grade 3 – Severe

Some of the most popular treatment options for women include:
